Today, we’re looking at amniotic injections – what they are and how they can help you get back to a pain-free life.
What Are Amniotic Injections?
Amniotic fluid contains a high concentration of stem cells, hyaluronic acid which is a natural lubricant for joints and tendons, and anti-inflammatory cytokines.
Amniotic fluid is the fluid surrounding an embryo during pregnancy. At the end of most pregnancies, this fluid is discarded after birth.
But now, consenting mothers of full-term, healthy cesarean section babies can donate this fluid so that its incredible regenerative properties can be harnessed for natural therapies, like amniotic injections.
No embryos are harmed during the collection of amniotic fluid.
How Amniotic Injections Improve Mobility
Amniotic fluid is rich in stem cells but also with proteins and molecules important in healing and in signaling for your own body to heal itself. When injected, true stem cells take on the properties of surrounding cells.
This regeneration of healthy cells means that damaged joints and tissues can be healed – not just numbed from pain. This also makes amniotic injections an excellent option for healing chronic wounds, as it speeds up the process of healing.
There are few true multipotent stem cells in these injections, but they are replete with healing proteins and anti-inflammatory molecules that can dramatically reduce inflammation and pain in muscle and connective tissues.
The hyaluronic acid contained in amniotic injections is also naturally produced in the knee joint. Boosting your natural levels of hyaluronic acid through injections can help cushion the knee joint, so you experience less bone-on-bone pain. Hyaluronic acid is also the substance with which most cosmetic fillers are composed.
Due to its abundance of anti-inflammatory cytokines, amniotic fluid helps naturally reduce inflammation at the injection site. While cortisone injections and other drugs only provide temporary relief, the stem cells, hyaluronic acid, and cytokines present in amniotic injections not only reduce pain but help regenerate tissues, providing pain relief that lasts.
