Amniotic fluid injections are an innovative treatment for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. It is a powerful alternative to steroid injections or surgical interventions.

This innovative treatment relieves pain through healing and regeneration, which results in better long-term outcomes.

This is why amniotic injections can also be used for wound care. These injections work to fight inflammation and promote re-epithelialization for faster healing with less scarring.

Where does the amniotic injection come from?

The amniotic fluid used in amniotic regenerative therapy is collected from consenting, healthy mothers who undergo C-sections. The amniotic membrane is normally discarded following birth, but its voluntary donation allows for amniotic regenerative therapy.

This therapy has been proven so effective that is it now covered by Medicare. This allows those who are over 65 years of age to access this treatment for a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

HOW DO AMNIOTIC INJECTIONS WORK?

Amniotic injections contain abundant substances that promote healthy tissue regeneration. These components include cytokines, growth factors, fibrinogen, collagen, hyaluronic acid and messenger RNA. Hyaluronic acid lubricates cartilage and facilitates new, healthy tissue growth.  Cytokines are natural anti-inflammatory agents.

During regenerative amniotic injection therapy, a medical professional will inject amniotic fluid into your body at the site of injury. The amniotic fluid replicates the properties of the cells near them.

This means that stem cells injected into an area affected by arthritis can repair the damage by regenerating healthy tissues.

Now, instead of opting for invasive surgery, patients have a safe, natural and effective treatment for joint disorders and more.

how long is the process & when do I see the results?

You may require 1-3 injections per site for this therapy to be fully effective, but most patients note improvement after one treatment. You can expect a reduction of inflammation within a few days of your first injection.  Recovery time varies depending on your condition. You may experience mild discomfort at the injection site after treatment. Your total healing time depends on your injury and your body’s recovery process. However, you will most likely be able to return to regular activity the next day.

Many ligament and tendon injuries can successfully be treated with amniotic fluid injections. It has also been effective in treating osteoarthritis pain. If you have been referred to surgery for your foot, ankle, or other joint pain, you may be a candidate for this innovative new therapy.
