If you have diabetes, it is of the utmost importance to provide your feet with the best care possible. If neglected, your feet can accumulate serious damage, from ulcers and sores to serious nerve damage to deformity and skin changes.

Pain and stiffness of the foot and ankle are very common for all diabetics. Let’s look at how you can best care for your feet and how our specialists at Warner Orthopedics & Wellness can supply you with the effective and innovative diabetic foot and ankle care you need.

Essential Diabetic Footcare Tips

What Is Diabetic Foot Care?

Sugar imbalances in the body, whether contrived genetically or due to lifestyle habits, are associated with the development of diabetes.

Diabetes is very complicated and involves chronic inflammation, but in general there is a systemic issue with insulin and the resulting balance of sugars (sorbitols) in the body.

This disease can have a drastically negative effect on the body and promote damage to the eyes, teeth, nerves, vital organs, and even the feet. Essentially, diabetes creates changes in tissues of the body at the cellular level that are detrimental.

Diabetic foot care is essential for comprehensive disease management since nerve damage in the feet is a common result of this disease. Amputations are one of the most dreaded problems in diabetes, and foot care can prevent amputations.

A diabetic patient should pay daily attention to their lifestyle by exercising regularly and consuming a well-balanced, nutritious diet. It is also crucial to monitor your blood sugar every day and schedule regular checkups with your physician. Appropriate medical and hormonal management is crucial to reducing complications from diabetes.
