Ingrown Toenails

Ingrown Toenails
August 30, 2018Medical Articles

Ingrown toenails can affect patients of all age and can be quite the nuisance.

The typical symptoms of an ingrown toenail include swelling around the end of the toe and pain to the touch around the nail. If left untreated, they may become infected which can produce worsening symptoms such as redness, oozing pus, bleeding, and increased pain.

Ingrown toenails can occur for a variety of reasons. Previous injury to the toenail, trimming the nail incorrectly, shoe gear that places a lot of pressure on the toes, and even genetics can all be reasons for developing an ingrown toenail.

It is important to see a doctor when an ingrown toenail occurs as they can become infected and cause worsening symptoms. For patients with recurrent bouts of ingrowing nails, there are minor in-office procedures with little to no downtime available to prevent the ingrowing nail from returning.

The specialists at Warner Orthopedics and Wellness can answer any of your questions and help you decide what is the best option for YOU! Call Warner Orthopedics and Wellness Physical Therapy to find your solution to ingrown nails.
