Regenerative Connective Tissue Injections For Osteoarthritis And Connective Tissue Pain

Regenerative Connective Tissue Injections For Osteoarthritis And Connective Tissue Pain
September 23, 2021EducationMedical Articles

If you have chronic pain in or around your joints from osteoarthritis and other maladies of the connective tissue, you could be a candidate for musculoskeletal support injections (sometimes known as ‘amniotic injections’).

Most of these injections are minimally manipulated from connective tissue-based substances. These injections not only have the ability to cushion the affected joint – but are a “regenerative therapy” that can help restore and repair broken-down cartilage, tendons, muscle and ligaments.

These injections are highly anti-inflammatory and have proteins with healing properties that can allow your muscle and connective tissues, including cartilage, to repair themselves and therefore improve your mobility and reduce pain.

More importantly, these injections are not chemical pharmaceuticals and have none of the side effects of steroids and other synthetic chemical injections.

What Are Connective Tissue-based Injections?

Connective tissue-based injections are composed of few stem cells but with abundant healing proteins and cofactors along with hyaluronic acid. These ingredients act to lubricate joints to help restore mobility.

The injection also allows a high load of healing proteins, cytokines, and other compounds to be targeted for the support of a variety of connective tissue problems. Most of our musculoskeletal complaints are from damage caused by years of chronic inflammation and oxidative stress.

Connective tissue-based fluid also contains some progenitor (stem) cells that are regenerative. These injections are a powerful solution to inflammation, and have been shown in studies to help regenerate broken-down and damaged tissues.

Where Do Connective Tissue-based Injections Come From?

These connective tissue matrix injections are derived from the amniotic sac. This is generally the fluid surrounding a fetus in pregnancy. During most deliveries, this fluid is discarded after birth.

Rather than discard this amazing and powerful biologic material, some innovative companies have been able to develop a way to process these in a minimal way so that we can benefit from the healing properties of this matrix.

Mothers who undergo cesarean sections can consent to donate this sac matrix for purposes of producing such products. This fluid is collected from live births only – meaning that no embryos are harmed during the collection.
