Oxidative Stress 101: Need Relief from Oxidative Stress?
Oxidative Stress 101: Need Relief from Oxidative Stress?

HOW TO REDUCE OXIDATIVE STRESS

Oxidative stress occurs when free radicals outnumber the number of antioxidants you have in your body.

Free radicals come from the normal metabolic processes of our cells. For example, we use oxygen, in combination with food, to form energy that our cells can utilize. The chemical processes that achieve the formation of energy produce free radicals.

When we breathe, we gather oxygen in the lungs and this is dispersed to all the cells of the body by way of circulation (blood flow). The oxygen gives cells the fuel they need to function. When the cells use this oxygen to form energy, free radicals are formed.

Most of us are likely under oxidative stress, and don’t even know it. Thankfully, there are a few ways to naturally increase your antioxidant levels, and get your oxidative health back on track!

SIGNS OF OXIDATIVE STRESS

Oxidative Stress 101 - Fatigue

FATIGUE

As free radicals damage the mitochondria in your cells, you may experience fatigue that your body just can’t shake. Mitochondria produce energy, and when they can’t function properly, you may constantly feel tired.

Oxidative Stress 101 - Brain Fog

BRAIN FOG

As the mitochondria in your brain become damaged from free radicals, your brain may have difficulty processing and focusing like it used to. If you feel “foggy,” it’s probably oxidative stress.

Oxidative Stress 101 - Muscle Joint Pain

MUSCLE + JOINT PAIN

An excess of free radicals can also trigger systematic inflammation throughout your body. The most common areas you’ll feel soreness are in your muscles and joints.

Oxidative Stress 101 - Headaches

CHRONIC HEADACHES

When your body and brain can’t function at optimal levels, this inflammation will compound and produce chronic fatigue, strain, and inflammation – which can trigger persistent headaches.

UPDATE YOUR LIFESTYLE & WELLNESS ROUTINES.

IT’S EASY TO GET STUCK IN OLD WAYS OF LIVING. IT’S TIME TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEW WAYS OF HEALING.

TART CHERRY EXTRACT

Tart cherry extract is antioxidant-rich. Its high levels of polyphenols help lessen the oxidative damage caused by your daily activities.

This extract has long been used as a natural anti-inflammatory for arthritis, gout, etc.

EASY WAYS TO RELIEVE OXIDATIVE STRESS

AT WARNER ORTHOPEDICS & WELLNESS, OUR GOAL IS TO GIVE YOU THE TOOLS YOU NEED TO ACHIEVE YOUR DIET & EXERCISE GOALS!

1. GET SOME REST

Your body does most of the work of repairing itself and detoxing free radicals while you rest, so do everything you can to ensure you’re getting a full 8 hours every day.

Optimize Your Diet & Exercise Routine

2. IMPROVE YOUR DIET

Eat foods that have high antioxidant content, like leafy greens, vegetables, and fruits like cherries and apples. A healthy diet is also easier for your body to break down. Processed foods are more likely to produce harmful free radicals.

Eat More Fruits, Vegetables, & Spices

3. GET DAILY EXERCISE

Fresh air, endorphin release, and more can help your body better process fuel. As your body becomes more aligned with a healthy lifestyle, it will begin to improve its antioxidant production all on its own.

4. SUPPLEMENT WHERE NECESSARY

As you begin to exercise more, it’s normal to feel some muscle soreness. But if left unchecked, it could keep you from committing to daily exercise, or even lead to injury if you’re fatigued. Make sure you’re stretching before and after exercise, and optimize your recovery by taking supplements geared for recovery – like Well Theory’s highly antioxidant Tart Cherry Extract.

5. AVOID POLLUTANTS

As your body struggles to detox the air you breathe, the more free radicals it creates. Get an air purifier for your home, filter your water, and buy some air-purifying houseplants to help ward off pollutants.
