What Are Amniotic Injections?

At Warner Orthopedics & Wellness, we have been using Amniotic Injection Therapy for years for those with persistent joint pain, muscle pain, and for the non-surgical repair of tendons.
This is truly a powerful regenerative therapy! The problem, it has never been covered by insurance, until now!
We truly believe in the power of natural, regenerative medicine, but we aren’t the only ones: under certain circumstances, amniotic injections are now covered under Medicare.
Let’s look into what amniotic injections are and why they may be the best option for your recovery:

Where Does The Amniotic Fluid Come From?
The amniotic fluid used in these injections comes from consenting mothers who undergo cesarean sections at the end of their full-term pregnancies. During cesarean procedures, amniotic fluid is usually discarded.
But when mothers choose to donate the amniotic fluid, it can be used in regenerative therapies like amniotic injections.
It’s important to note that no embryos are harmed during the collection of amniotic fluid. The amniotic membrane and fluid donated this procedure are sources of allograft tissue. “Allograft” tissue is tissue that is taken from one individual and given to another, like skin or bone grafts.
Amniotic Injections Are Used For

Since amniotic injections contain stem cells and growth factors along with other healing proteins, their use in regenerative therapies is nearly limitless.
- It can be injected into arthritic joints to both cushion the joints and prevent bone-on-bone irritation.
- It can facilitate the repair of tendons, ligaments, fascia, and more.
- It has been used effectively to relieve pain associated with ACL tears, tendinitis, rotator cuff injuries, foot & ankle pain, plantar fasciitis, post-operative pain, and even wound care.
- Currently, one of the best uses for this powerful tool is in the treatment of muscle pain and inflammation.
How Do Amniotic Injections Work in Wound Care?
Amniotic injections are a game changer for chronic wound care. These injections work to fight inflammation and promote re-epitheliazation. This means that the injections help stimulate skin cell regrowth to help cover and protect the wound.
It also helps promote overall wound healing for a faster recovery, and inhibits TGF-beta signaling that results in scar tissue.
